6000 / 7000 miles

08 Aug 2008 at 13:57 Filed Under:

Double mileage celebrationette today: Firstly 6,000 miles (6022.70) this year*, and secondly the Surly passed 7,000 miles (7034.28), which puts it back into second position for the most ridden of my bikes - ever... and it's possible it could be #1 in the next month or so. (that comment has pretty much guaranteed that it will snap in two tomorrow) (and that comment about that comment has probably put the frame-cracking-pixies on call)

* of course, this time last year I was already to 8,000 or so

How do you rate the surly? I'm looking for a new SS frame was thinking explosif but 1x1s are cheaper and u get some forks thrown in too.

I like mine, despite it trying to kill me for the first few rides (kept making me crash), it just keeps on trucking, has HUUUUGE tyre clearance (2.3" tyre gives about 2cm of clearance each side and to the bridge), it's not light (mine's 26.6lbs, but that's with a random part selection)

I've get another, definintely.

PS. new surly colour are being announced at Interbike, but I reckon the '08 Pumpkin Orange colour is lovely. For (whatever price - about 330 quid) I reckon it's great value.

I'd have one over a Explosif any day of the week, given the surly has proper dropouts, the Kona has those stupid sliding things.

6000 miles! That's more than twice what I've done, although I am having a gayer year.
