The Third Wheel

23 Nov 2007 at 18:54 Filed Under:

I'm fast running out of rear wheels, the pro2 has been destroyed twice, so I'm leaving getting that money pit to rot before it's fixed and sold on to someone less awesome than me.

The Hope XC that replaced that wheel only a few weeks ago, skipped a number of engagements this morning and emitted a symphony of pings and clicks for the rest of the ride, forcing me to ride a little more gingerly than normal. Rarely for one of my wheels, the bearings are still working fine, with no hint of play, which is impressive given that wheel's been used probably yhe most this year.

So I'm on to the THIRD wheel to be run on the Chameleon in only 6 weeks, this, another XC, came back from Hope only 3 weeks ago, and I was surprised to see that the only original part of the hub is the shell... New: axle, freehub shell, pawls, springs, bearings, end caps and ratchet ring! - Let the countdown to destruction begin!

I wonder if the latest wheel will last until Christmas?
