Today's Suffering

09 Aug 2007 at 18:15

Phew, despite no proper wind, it was still very hard work today, the whole world felt sluggish and I only posted an AVG of 20.26mph.

There's definitely someting up with the air, it's usually quite easy going in the summer, I guess it's something to do with it being cold... ho hum, front of bike flappy as hell when it hit pockets of strong wind.

Most of the suffering is down to running out of protein powder, so I've just dropped a hundred quid on enough to keep me going for the next few months, maybe I'll start making big legs again. That will make beating up the wind easier.

48miles - 2hrs 24mins

Losing My Religion

25 Jul 2007 at 22:27

I'm bloody sick of this.

I wonder what this one was, lying about his whereabouts in mid june? pressure from the organisers? I guess we'll find out tomorrow. I'll save the rant for then.

Again Donny Quixote's on the ball

Contador FTW

The press is reporting that his expulsion and sacking by Radobank is due to being a lying scumbag over his location during the middle of June.

You're dead to me Rasmussen, DEAD!, DO YOU HEAR ME?

I don't care anymore, I'm not even interested in the race anymore but I am glad the rest of the Radobank team is being allowed to race on, it's a depressing state of affairs, and from the outsider's point of view the idea that Pro Cyclists are all drugged up cheats it going to be as strong as ever.

Someone by me a nice carbon road bike to cheer me up, please.

Road Ride #2 of the day.

Very very very very windy, or maybe not, no idea, huge air resistance and gusting, made my second ride a sufferfest time trial.

45mins, Ave 22.5mph, Rain and the horrible horrible wind as the storm rolled in.

All this to record a second consecutive 300 mile week... woop!, I'm now sweating like TwinklyDave looking though a cake shop window.

I've also amassed the palindromic total of 898.98 miles this month.

Laps of the Pool

18 Jul 2007 at 13:00

Guess what time I went out on my ride?

Within 4 seconds of setting off the rain started to fall, by the top of the road I was putting my arm warmers on, 4 mins later I had wet feet, 25mins in I'd had enough of sliding around the roads, 27mins in the road was now a river and I couldn't see anything... this pattern continued as I did 4 laps of the local area to at least make the ride longer than 25miles.

How far I actually went remains a mystery at the moment as at around 55mins my bike computer drowned.

Is it wrong to be politically incorrect when you're about to be run over?

That was my thought after calling a Rover driver a F--king Spastic (amongst other things) and he decided that getting home to watch Countdown was more important than ACTUALLY LOOKING TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY ONCOMING TRAFFIC BEFORE TURNING RIGHT. Moron.. I think I also displayed an effective way of connecting profanities the people coming out of the co-op in Adlington - sorry, but I was slightly angry about almost being assassinated.
I am sure if the bullet that blew though JFK's head had actually just ruffled his hair he'd have done the same. That's the second Rover in 3 weeks to almost squash me, and both times I wasn't doing anything illegal (for a change) - so Rover drivers now go on the list with 4x4 drivers and Mums doing the "School Run"

Ride #200

16 Jul 2007 at 11:23

The double century of rides for the year is now complete.

With the forecast for the week looking dodgy again I took the opportunity to roll out of bed and onto the bike and it was almost a repeat of yesterday with that strange 'thick air' thing again (can;t explain it, you can only experience it to understand) pretty warm, my legs weren't too happy. I'd also forgotten how RUBBISH "soccermoms" are when driving fat Tarquin to school.

Pooped now, I've ridden quite hard the last 5 days. 50.04 miles.
