300th Ride of the year - still very windy, cold, hills, 28miles... rode like a spanner

Can't Steer, Won't Steer.

The lifeless Mavericks on the Chameleon are definitely having a detrimental effect on the handling of the bike, I've been unable to descend the Pike properly since I swapped back over from the KHS, as the forks just don't do their job properly, I can't stick a line, I end up with the front wheel about to washout, or me being flung way off line and having to mince around the corners looking for any type of grip. the forks stopped doing that thing where they 'pop' back up when you undo the lockout, so maybe that's a clue.. that and the general lifelessness of them, they won't travel more than about 2inches, if I drop the air in them then when locked down thye just mush about at the bottom of the travel... maybe that's just how those forks are.. someone needs to make a coil upgrade kit for them.

Apart from that annoyance, rubbish ride, very very very windy and the rear wheel's bearings are completely shot - I;m off to design a hub with 1 pence pieced sized bearings, that'll be a *GREAT* idea.

Update: The official information is now available

"ultra-light eccentric BB"

Booo!!! EBBs are rubbish *maybe* sounds like more maintenance than I like though, but an ali bb shell might make it creak less as it will be nice and thick. But also sounds like the bike will be more expensive than it is currently.

Using my ingenuity I have located these pictures of two of the three new things from Santa Cruz (I think the images were only put on the web 20mins ago! - LOL!)

New Chameleon

Looks like a replaceable hanger on the back, with the front end taking on the style of the new heckler

The Stigmata (Cross Bike)

This looks like a bike. In the new Sand colour. (UPDATE! there are actually bottle bosses on DT and ST, but overzealous photoshopping has chopped them flat)

How long do you reckon before I own one or the other or both of these?
